Around the Family Table: Emily’s Pork Dinner
Let’s face it. We just have to have women in our lives who make us want to be better people. My friend Emily is just that for me. She has a gentle and sweet spirit about her and though she is passionate she doesn’t seem to frighten people with her passion as I do. She is a nurturer by nature and cares well for her tribe. As a working mom of three Emily writes;Meal time (dinner specifically) is an important part of the day for our family. It's part of our rhythm; a constant. Our children are still little, and we aren't yet bogged down with evening activities, which means we are all home most nights at dinner time. I truly enjoy cooking, so it means a lot to me to be able to prepare something nourishing and delicious for my family. There aren't many other times of the day that we have a dedicated reason to all sit down together, so meal time is a perfect excuse. I'd like to think that if we build this habit now, when our children are young, it will be easier to continue as they grow older. Right now our dinner conversation consist mainly of "take one more bite of green beans" or "stop sticking your fork in your sisters ear"...but hopefully someday, as it continues to be a constant, they'll be more like "Hey, how was your day?".xoxo.
