Imprint These Words
Reflect on: Deuteronomy 11:18-21
“Imprint these words of mine on your hearts and minds, bind them as a sign on your hands, and let them be a symbol on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your city gates, so that as long as the heavens are above the, your days and those of your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your fathers.”
I recently spoke at an event for Imperfectly Brave. I was speaking on the word Called. The Lord brought me to the topic that there are five things that all believers are called to. One thing we are all called to as believers is to be in the word. Congratulations, you did it today! You were in the word of God! This generation of believers has more access to scripture than any other before us. You want to know why? Because we can get the entire Bible on our phone! That’s right, with the touch of our home button and the click of an app we have access anytime, anyplace to the entire word of God. Yet, we are the most undisciplined generation when it comes to setting aside time in the word. So, I challenge you today, to set aside time, and get in this good book. This love story. This rescue plan. This book is full of adventure, drama, love, fall from grace, treasure, history and at times humor. Pray that God will help you understand what you read, pray that He will help you focus and set aside time with Him. He will reveal if you are willing to allow Him to! We are to know the word, our verse today tells us we should write it on our heart, in our minds and teach it to others! Let’s dive in to the word this week and see how God changes us through this committed time with Him. It’s going to be a good week!
- Think of an excuse you make to not read the Bible. Now come up with a plan to combat that excuse, write it down, commit to it!
- In a rut or not sure where to start? 1 John is a quick read! Read a chapter a day and you'll be done by the end of the week!
