Extravagant

Reflect on Romans 5:8

But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

As I write this I am at the ocean.  God's creation is so extravagant!  It's over the top even.  Something about being in the presence of a mighty and abundant creation just reminds me so much of my mighty God.  It didn't stop there for me this week though. This week I saw the ocean and was reminded that God made this ocean for me, to reveal his character to me.  To provide for me.  His love is so abundant and extravagant that he calls the waves but also knows my name.  Sometimes we forget, somehow in all the life living, that God knows our name and looks on us with extravagant love.  He sent his son to die even before we chose him, even while we were still turning from him.  You don't get much more extravagant than that!Work through these questions today and throughout the rest of your week:

  1. Grab your journal or a piece of paper and take a minute to write all the ways you can think of that God shows his love in extravagant ways right now.  Post this list somewhere you can see it for a few days.
  2. God's love is audacious and extravagant, he pours this over you all day everyday.  Think of ways you can extravagantly love people in your life and community.  Be purposeful in this this week.

This song is my new favorite reminder of extravagant love.  I hope it blesses you as you finish out your week.https://youtu.be/B6BRS2WlhoY?list=PLrSIqia1NDoQsZXIggKhXvJ_TOqLHhftS
