Getting Rooted in 2018

It's a new year. Maybe you hadn't heard yet? It's 2018.Last year I started a new thing in my life (not new for a number of other people though). God gave me a word. Surrender. That was my word for the year, and boy was it applicable to my 2017 year. God had me lay down a lot of things last year. Surrendering so much was hard, but worth it. I'm learning that doing the hard things are always worth it. He is worth it.I spent the last month of 2017 obsessed with the picture of a family tree, with it's big top and it's extending roots. I kept voicing this to my friends and even got a charm for my bracelet of a tree. It's all making more sense now as the word that God gave me for 2018 is ROOTED.The only thing that has been made clear to me regarding this ROOTED journey with the Lord is the Bible verse that will be my anthem this year. So, I will begin the year ROOTED in God's word. I imagine that will be the true theme of my 2018, ROOTED in God's word.Jeremiah 17:7-8"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD and whose trust is in the LORD. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends it's ROOTS by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But it's leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit"You are invited to join me on this journey. I will offer what I'm learning through being ROOTED in transparent and authentic ways. With a word like that I can't imagine it will be easy, but I know for certain it will be worth it. As God would have it, I had already decided to study the book of Jeremiah the first part of the year (not coincidental). So that's where I will start. I will share my learnings with you via blogs and social media over the weeks to come. Maybe we can learn to be ROOTED together.Did God give you a theme or word for your year? If not what are our spiritual goals this year? Can I challenge you to start by being ROOTED in prayer and God's word. God's hand on our dreams, goals, plans and purposes is exactly what we need to succeed. Getting connected with the creator is the best start for the best finish.Imperfectly Brave is giving away a free 5 day study on Dangerous Prayer starting next week. That would be a great way to get started being ROOTED in prayer. Just head to imperfectlybrave.com to plug in your email address.I don't know what your year holds or what my year holds. I actually don't even know what I'm having for dinner tonight. What I do know is that God goes before us and you can trust him to lead you in 2018. He is worth it.This year you will find me writing, reading, studying, singing and speaking on God's good word. Everything I do will be ROOTED in that. This year I would love to connect with you on the socials and to come to your church or event to teach or lead. Click here for more on that.Happy New Year my friends. Maybe we all be ROOTED in God this year!
