Jesus is Better

Reflect on 1 John 2: 15-17

"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride in one's possessions is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world with it's lust is passing away but the one who does the will of God remains forever"

In The Challenge Series that is going on right now we are reading through 1 John.  It has been all the good things.  These verses stood out to me in our reading this week.  'Do not love the world or the things in the world' I mean stab right to the heart.  Mental flashes of all the lovely things that I love started rolling through my mind.  I love my wedding ring, I love my home, I love my comforts, I love running water for petes sake!  Quick panic!  I love all the things!!!! I'm failing in epic ways!  But here's the deal friends, there are some really great things in this world and God created some really great things. He delights in us, so our delights are lovely to him as well.  Just remember, Jesus is better. So those things we love so much and the parts of this world that we think are pretty rockin awesome, just remember Jesus is better. They can't trump our love for our Father and they can' be more important than doing the will of God.  So, if  you have some convictions in reading this, take that to the Lord. Repent of loving the world more than Jesus and make some changes.  Jesus is better, and he is always worth it.PS: I'd love for you to join us in the challenge series!  Subscribe to chrystanferrell.com and follow the posts on my social media pages!  Challenge runs through this Fall, so it's not too late!
