City on a Hill
What if we shine a little bit brighter this week? What if we were true lights in the darkness? What if we loved harder and served more? What would our world look like if we were the Church that Christ called us to be? If we did, instead of complained. If we opened our doors instead of building taller fences. If we hugged instead of judged and handed out grace instead of picking up stones. This. This would be the true church. This would be a world made beautiful. This in the call on my life. This is the call to the church. This is the call to the world wide body of Christ. Let us rally for the time is now, you are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden…
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put in under a basket, but on a stand and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in Heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
Reflect on Matthew 5:14-16, then take time to answer these questions:1. What does this look like in your day-to-day? 2. If you were to actively and intentionally be the light of the world, how would you change your day to day one step at a time?Mine would be in my home first. I need to breathe more and yell less. I need to serve with a healthier heart. It seems I have so much more compassion for those outside of my home. What friends does this look like for your life today? Then tomorrow, ask the same question of yourself, how can I be a light today- a city on a hill? Imagine how we could change the world with just the practice of being intentional in shining our light for all to see.
